Youngkin’s Transgender Student Policy Implementation Delayed

A 30-day delay is triggered for implementing Governor Glenn Youngkin’s new transgender student guidelines. According to 8 News the delay is due to public comments claiming the guidelines violate state law or regulations. The earliest effective date for the new policies could be November 26 but so far no specific release date has been announced. The proposed revisions would require written parental permission for pronoun and name changes in schools. Parents would also be given a chance to object to gender-related counseling.
