Miyares Announces $391.5 Million Settlement with Google

Attorney General Jason Miyares announced that he, along with 39 other attorneys general reached a $391.5 millionsettlement with Google over accusations of misleading consumers about their location tracking practices relating to Google Account settings. This is the largest multistate attorney general privacy settlement in the history of the U.S, and Virginia will receive over $10,7 million from the settlement. Authorities say even a limited amount of location tracking data can expose a person’s identity and routines and can be used to infer personal details.
