Virginia receives nearly $116 million in federal funding to help low-income residents pay their heating bills. The money can also go toward cost-effective home energy repairs to lower heating and cooling bills. Funds are awarded through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Those eligible can apply through the Virginia Department of Social Services website at commonhelp.virginia.gov.
