Virginia’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” DUI enforcement and public education campaign is back for the holiday season. It combines law enforcement efforts with outreach to remind Virginians to plan for a safe ride home after drinking. Between Thanksgiving 2021 and New Year’s Day 2022 445 Virginians were injured and 13 lost their lives because of alcohol-related crashes. Last year in Virginia, over a fourth of all traffic fatalities involved alcohol, representing a 9.2% decrease from 2020.
