New Study Details Growth In Ag & Forestry Industries

A study from the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service finds the total economic impact of the Commonwealth’s agriculture and forestry industries in 2021 was over $105 billion. This total represents an estimated 11.2% percent of Virginia’s entire economic output. The study determined the 2 industries employ over 490,000 workers which is 9.4% of total employment. The last study in 2017 pegged the combined industry output at $98.2 billion and just over 478,000 jobs.
