An investigation into a Salem Church Road house fire last month determines it was not suspicious. The Gazette-Journal reports the resident who was renting the home was not there when the fire started and neighbors called 9-1-1. Mathews County fire officials say 5 fire trucks were dispatched and firefighters found the home was already fully engulfed. The home’s owner says they will make sure the tenant is taken care of.
