A bill is introcuced in the General Assembly to ban abortions after 15 weeks.The bill makes it a felony to perform an abortion unless the pregnancy is a result of rape or incest and if the woman will die or suffer irreversible physical harm from carrying the pregnancy to term. The Virginian-Pilot reports a spokesman for Gov. Glenn Youngkin said voters elected a pro-life governor and he supports finding consensus on legislation which would extend protections from Virginia’s current standard.
