Colonial Beach Headless Bird Investigation Wraps Up

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources completes its investigation into last August’s discovery of 4 headless birds on Castlewood Beach. News on the Neck reports a department biologist determined both human and disease-linked causes have been ruled out. The biologist says the birds were washed ashore headless and that may have resulted from them being caught in fishermen netting and were not able to get out.
