Attorney General Jason Miyares joined a coalition of 22 Attorneys General urging Congressional leaders to pass legislation giving states the authority to jam contraband cell phones. Miyares says the phones allow inmates to continue their criminal behavior, plan escapes, and intimidate witnesses from behind bars. Bills have been filed regarding this issue in the 116th and the 117th Congress but none of the bills have moved or received a vote.
