Virginia Gets First Avian Flu Case In 20 Years

Virginia has its first avian flu case in nearly 20 years. The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reports it is at a turkey farm in Rockingham County and 25,000 birds were removed to prevent the disease from spreading. The department is working with the Virginia Poultry Federation and USDA on a joint incident response. Officials say the birds removed from the flock will not enter the food system.
