The Virginia Poultry Federation announces it is taking steps to protect chickens, turkeys, and geese from the avian flu which is behind a nationwide egg shortage that led to skyrocketing egg prices. Virginia has not had an avian flu outbreak in over 20 years and after that outbreak a flu prevention task force was created consisting of multiple agencies to develop plans should another outbreak occur.
