The General Assembly passes legislation requiring vehicle owners to obtain car insurance. The Virginia Mercury reports the bills repeal an option for drivers to register an uninsured motor vehicle by paying a $500 fee. The fee does not provide vehicle insurance to drivers. The bill now goes to Governor Glenn Younkgin’s desk and a spokesman says he will review the legislation. According to AAA, Virginia and New Hampshire are the only two states in the U.S. not to require car insurance.
