Middlesex County School Board Looking At Metal Detector Purchase

The Middlesex County School Board is considering the purchase of eight metal detectors for the county’s three school facilities and to establish a policy for use of the machines. The Southside Sentinel reports the Board looked into the purchases after the Newport News first grade teacher shooting by her 6-year-old student and reported racial threats towards Black students at St. Clare Walker Middle School. The threats remain under investigation by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.
