Richmond County EMS Addressing Out-Of-Town Transfers

Richmond County EMS is addressing requests from doctors to transport children to medical facilities outside the county. News on the Neck reports EMS chief Mitch Paulette determined doctors are making the transport orders without including the department in making that decision. The transports require two EMS providers, and it takes that medic unit out of the county, sometimes for up to 4 hours. Paulette says he is being proactive and working to cut down on out-of-town transports that are unnecessary.
