Gov. Glenn Youngkin asked the General Assembly to allocate funding to cover a Department of Education accounting error leaving school divisions across the Commonwealth with less state aid than anticipated. The error was disclosed earlier this week and amounted to a difference of $201 million statewide over two fiscal years. Lawmakers say no school division will have to reduce expenditures in the current fiscal year.
