Drug-Resistant Fungus Cases Reported In Virginia

The Virginia Department of Health is reporting an increase of cases involving a drug resistant fungus targeting people with weakened immune systems. Officials say there are 40 cases of Candida Auris in Virginia and it is resistant to some of the types of medications usually used to treat fungal infections. The fungus spreads through close human contact and VDH encourages those who may have been exposed to report it right away.
