Northumberland County’s treasurer announces she’s retiring after nearly 45 years on the job. The Rappahannock Recoird reports Ellen Booker Kirby will step down on December 31. During Kirby’s tenure she computerized county tax records, streamlined processes, and added customer services such as DMV transactions, U.S. passport acceptance, and online payments. She was recently recognized with the L. Gene Harding Lifetime Award by the Treasurers’ Association.
