The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality is working on ways to reduce the daily flow of a highly carcinogenic toxic chemical compound into the James River and flowing into Chesapeake Bay. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch the department is developing a total maximum daily load of the PCBs and expects to complete the work next year. There is an expanding focus on dealing with toxic chemicals flowing into the bay.
