The Virginia Lottery released its January sports wagering report and bets were up by nearly 6% from January of 2022. Bets topped $513 million and winners took home over $463 million. State law places a 15% tax on sports betting activity based on each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue. 97.5% ofd those revenues go imnto the General Fund and 2.5% is allocated to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund administered by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health.
