Gloucester Board of Supervisors discusses funding Sheriff’s Office investigator

Budget talks continued during Tuesday’s meeting of the Gloucester Board of Supervisors in the colonial courthouse. Originally the board was scheduled to adopt its Fiscal Year 2024 budget during that meeting, but instead changed the agenda item to budget discussions, including additional revenue for an investigator position within the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Darrell Warren said at a previous meeting that his department really needed an investigator, but there wasn’t room in the budget at that time. He planned to request the position during next year’s budget season. The board said the county would be receiving more from the State Compensation Board than anticipated, which provided more than enough to fund that position. The budget adoption is scheduled to take place May 2, in the colonial courthouse.
