There’s a new shell recycling center in the Town of Urbanna. According to the Southside Sentinel it’s at the Urbanna Town Marina and will be managed by Friends of the Rappahannock. All recycled oyster shells will be used directly in the nonprofit’s oyster restoration projects in Urbanna Creek. Friends of the Rappahannock and its partners work to improve leases in the creek by creating viable habitat for oysters to grow and form reefs.
