The 2023 Clean The Bay Day event was an overwhelming success according to organizers who told News on the Neck that nearly 100,000 pounds of debris was collected at the 3-hour annual event held the first Saturday in June. More than 3,000 volunteers worked across about 200 sites. The most common items collected were plastic and glass bottles, aluminum cans, plastic bags, and cigarette butts.
