The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality lifted the drought watch advisory for four most of the Commonwealth. Officials say that since the advisory was issued in late April much of the covered areas received above-normal precipitation during the first two weeks of May. These regions now show normal to near-normal conditions due to the increased precipitation. Groundwater levels also have begun to recover, and storage at water supply reservoirs is within normal ranges.
