The Virginia Department of Historic Resources decides to postpone nominating the Gwynn’s Island Historic District. According to the Gazette-Journal the decision came after a public hearing last month where several island residents expressed concerned about what such a designation would mean for them as property owners. As of last week the department hadn’t received any letters of opposition from any Gwynn’s Island property owners.
