The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors passes its fiscal year 2024 budget with a 6.1% spending increase. The Rappahannock Record reports the board approved the $48.6 million county budget and the $21.6 million school budget last Thursday. The county spending plan is about $5 million less than originally proposed which allowed the board to keep tax rates where they are currently. The previous proposal had a 14 cent tax hike.
