Northumberland County Sheriff’s deputies will be getting new equipment from a $262,000 grant from the Virginia Dept. of Criminal Justice Services. The Northumberland Echo reports the department is buying 28 handheld radios, 4 in-car radios, 16 Glock service pistols with holsters and 2 new fully-equipped patrol vehicles. The remaining funds are going toward buying equipment to aid in the investigation of violent crimes.
