The Virginia Department of Transportation is building a right turn lane from Route 619, Fiddlers Green Road in Gloucester County onto Route 17 southbound. According to the Gazette-Journal the work is designed to tie in existing sidewalks plus a pedestrian signal upgrade is planned so that a right turn on red can be enabled. Work also continues on Route 216 and that project will continue through the summer.
