Virginia Air Pollution Control Board May Vote On RGGI Withdrawal

The Virginia Air Pollution Control Board meets today and it may vote today on if the state should leave the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. That’s according to the Virginian-Pilot which cited representatives with the Department of Environmental Quality. The Initiative is a cooperative effort among 12 states to create cleaner air by reducing carbon dioxide emissions through the purchase of carbon credits. Last December the Board started the withdrawal process at Governor Glenn Youngkin’s request.
