Virginia Air Pollution Control Board Votes To Leave RGGI

The Virginia Air Pollution Control Board voted to have the state leave the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. The Initiative is a cooperative effort among 12 states to create cleaner air by reducing carbon dioxide emissions through the purchase of carbon credits. Last December the Board started the withdrawal process at Governor Glenn Youngkin’s request. He says the was a burdensome tax on families and businesses in the Commonwealth and did not contribute to pollution reduction.
