The Virginia Board of Education approved an alternative pathway to teacher licensure called iTeach. It allows teachers to get into the classroom on a provisional license and work toward their full license. Virginia currently has around 3,500 teacher openings. iTeach applicants are required to maintain their accreditation through the Council For The Accreditation of Education Preparation and participating school divisions are required to have mentorship programs for new teachers.
