A new report from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Office says that the number of people killed in crashes last year reached a 15-year high . More than 1,000 people lost their lives in 2022 with increases in alcohol-related fatalities, unrestrained occupant fatalities and fatalities of motorcyclists, pedestrians and drivers over 65. There were more than 122,000 crashes on all Virginia roads in 2022, just over 3% more than in 2021.
