The race for Mathews County Commissioner of the Revenue qhas a new candidate. According to the Gazette-Journal Christian Collier of Mathews announced he will be running against incumbent commissioner Les Hall in the November 7 election. Collier said the job consists of assessing taxes, assisting residents with their income taxes, handling business licenses, and managing tax relief for the elderly and veterans. He has worked in emergency services for over 25 years, with the past 13 years in Mathews.
