The Irvington planning commission this week tabled two Short Term Rental applications. The Rappahannock Record reports the commission first discussed a conditional use permit (CUP) application submitted by Heather Bristol to operate an STR at 52York Road. Officials say two complaints were submitted regarding the application on the basis of too many STRs saturating the town. Bristol indicated upon being granted an STR, she would move into a garage apartment and the main building would be used as the rental for guests. The commission also addressed an application from Mark Ralls to operate an STR at 294 Chesapeake Drive. During the discussion, the commission determined the property has deed restrictions that may or may not prohibit the operation of an STR. The deed restriction prohibits the operation of a commercial enterprise on the property and the commission ultimately was not able to determine what constitutes a commercial enterprise in that particular instance.
