GO Virginia Region 6, of which Gloucester and Mathews are a part, will have an application information session for potential grant applicants from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission office in Saluda. The Gazette Journal reports participants will learn about the GO Virginia program and the different types of applications available, as well as who can apply for them and application best practices. Local participation will be discussed, as well. According to the GO Virginia website, the initiative supports programs to create more high-paying jobs through “incentivized collaboration between business, education, and government to diversify and strengthen the economy in every region of the commonwealth.” Its Growth and Opportunity Board awards allotted funds to relevant projects and oversees regional councils that submit project ideas to the board for approval.
