Marine Corps League Detachment 1062 commandant Jim Schafer recently announced that Det 1062 will commemorate the 248th birthday of the Marine Corps by hosting a Marine Corps Birthday Ball at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club on November 10. The Rappahannock Record reports the event will begin at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour, dinner, traditional cake cutting ceremony, followed by music and dancing to close the night. The guest speaker will be retired USMC Master Sgt. Wayne M. Gatewood. Seating is limited to 120 seats.
