Northumberland Planning Commission Considers Solar Ordinance

Northumberland planning commission recently took up solar and commercial tent camping ordinances for further revision. With no quorum, the commission was unable to take any voting action. The Rappahannock Record reports prior to completing any work on the solar ordinance, the commission decided they needed more direction from Dominion Energy and Northern Neck Electric Cooperative about the types of solar projects the county could expect with the current electrical grid. Members present directed county planner Stuart McKenzie to set up a work session with representatives from the utilities. The commission held a brief discussion on commercial tent camping and asked staff to bring back recommendations for minimum lot sizes for commercial tent camping. A review of usages in zoning districts was tabled due to time.
