A solar project in Kilmarnock has become part of a bigger plan. Standard Solar purchased a 12 megawatt community solar portfolio from New Leaf Energy that includes two projects in Kilmarnock and and one in Chatham. The purchase marks Standard Solar’s entry into the state’s community solar market. The Kilmarnock projects, with a combined capacity exceeding 7 MW, are exclusively allocated to low- and moderate-income (LMI) customers. These projects will empower communities and individuals who may not have had access to clean energy options before. Director of Business Development for Standard, Harry Benson, said “Projects like these represent a turning point in the state’s clean energy journey.”
