Kilmarnock town manager Susan Cockrell is asking the Lancaster board of supervisors to consider establishing two joint committees to address expanding the town’s sewer system south into the Wilson Road and Greentown- Gaskins Road neighborhoods as well as a boundary line adjustment of the town limits. According to the Rappahannock Record, Cockrell said expanding into the Wilson Road neighborhood next to the Compass Entertainment Complex would eliminate issues of well and septic system failures, while the Greentown-Gaskins expansion near Pitmans Corner/Christ Church would create a system more compatible to the rest of the network and more reliable than the existing grinder pump system.
The Greentown-Gaskins expansion would also eliminate the costs of maintaining the existing drainfield system as well as oversight by the Virginia Department of Health.
