Northumberland supervisors recently approved a 2% pay raise for county employees to match the 2% raise for compensation board employees approved by the state in its latest budget. It will cost the county an additional $112,398.37 to cover the increase from December 1 when it takes effect to June 30, 2024, when the fiscal year budget ends. The Rappahannock Record reports a 3% salary scale adjustment and 5% pay increase for all employees was included in the current fiscal year budget that was adopted in June. Tadlock said the state would be covering some of the $112,000, but did not have an exact amount.
