Residents of the Fruit Plain Road area came out in force on Thursday, November 9, to urge Northumberland supervisors to deny a conditional use permit for a slaughterhouse. The board agreed, voting 5-0 to reject the request, citing its location among houses and secondary roads. The Rappahannock Record reports board members Richard Haynie, Thomas Tomlin, James Brann, Thomas Long and Maurice Johnson all voted to deny the conditional use permit request.
