The Brays Fork interchange in Essex County could undergo changes in the future if a proposed project for that area is approved and subsequently funded. The Rappahannock Times reports Tim Smith, the zoning compliance liaison for Essex County, briefed county’s Board of Supervisors about its Smart Scale proposal that is currently under initial consideration.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) website, Smart Scale is the process that helps Virginia meet its most critical transportation needs using limited tax dollars. It evaluates potential transportation projects based on key factors like how they improve safety, reduce congestion, increase accessibility, contribute to economic development, promote efficient land use, and affect the environment.
