The Tappahannock Police Department responded to an altercation that occurred at the Foxchase Apartments located on Marsh Street in Tappahannock recently. As a result, one individual was severely injured and transported to VCU/Tappahannock Hospital, where he later died of his injuries. The individual was identified as Gene Frederick Cauthorne, III, age 19, of Tappahannock. A suspect was later apprehended and charged with Malicious Wounding. The suspect was identified as 31 year old Tyrone Ware, Jr. He was arrested and is currently in custody at the Middle Peninsula Regional Jail in Saluda. Details of the altercation are still under investigation and further charges are pending.
