Kilmarnock Obtains Interim Water Treatment Plant Funding

Kilmarnock lawmakers obtain interim financing for the waste town’s water treatment plant project. The Rappahannock Record reports the Town Council accepted a proposal from Chesapeake Bank with a fixed interest rate of 1.69%. 3 other banks submitted proposals. The Council wanted to select financing with a fixed interest rate instead of a variable rate because of the uncertainty of how high the variable rates could fluctuate. Interim financing is needed until a USDA loan is disbursed which will happen after construction starts.
