The Milford Haven Coast Guard Station in Mathews will remain a year-round station. 1st District Congressman Rob Wittman announced the Coast Guard reversed its decision to change Milford Haven to a seasonal station meaning it would be open six months a year. Witmann along with both Virginia senators worked on getting the seasonal designation reversed. Had Station Milford Haven suspended operations the nearest stations able to respond to emergencies would be approximately 50 miles away.
