2 people from Mathews County who took plea deals for their role in the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riots were sentenced last week. According to the Gazette-Journal Cindy Fitchett of Cobbs Creek and and Douglas Sweet of Mathews received one-month terms in home detention plus 3 years probation. Each will also be required to perform 60 hours of community service, and the payment of $500 in restitution
