The Virginia Department of Health announces it is working with the Centers for Disease Control and other federal agencies to track the emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant. No cases of this variant have been identified in the United States so far but officials say they are expected and may be soon detected here. A COVID-19 testing event takes place Saturday at Lancaster Middle School from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
