Herring Issues Opinion On Gloucester County Sales Tax Reallocation

Gloucester County lawmakers are reviewing an opinion from Attorney General Mark Herring on allocating the 1% sales tax increase approved by voters for new construction to instead pay down past school construction debt. According to the Gazette-Journal Herring’s opinion states the reallocation should not take place. The Board of Supervisors included the reallocated funding in its budget process. Herring’s opinion will be discussed today in a closed session at the Board’s meeting.
