Youngkin Says He Will Appoint New Elections Commissioner

Virginia’s elections commissioner learns his time on the job may end this summer. According to 8 News Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced he will appoint a successor to Chris Piper this coming Monday. Under Virginia law governors can appoint commissioners to a four-year term that begins July 1 after a gubernatorial election. Piper told 8 News he’s had no discussions with the administration regarding his current or future appointment.
