The General Assembly decides not to advance legislation eliminating requiring school boards to adopt policies and guidelines consistent with those developed by the Virginia Department of Education for transgender and nonbinary students. It also called for the Department to amend its policies to remove any such information, guidance, procedures, or standards. Both bills were rejected by committees before coming to the floor for a full vote.
