Daylight Saving Time starts on Sunday and the American Red Cross of Virginia says check your smoke detectors when you change your clocks. Replace the detector’s batteries and for ones with sealed batteries check the expiration date. Officials say detectors over 10 years old should be replaced even if they test properly as the sensors deteriorate. This is also a good time to review escape plans.
